Where children unwind and relax

At After School, all children can unwind in a relaxed, safe and fun, home from home environment which is part of the community. Our After School and programme of activities plays an important role in the social and emotional development of children and is not intended to be an extension of the school day. Our programmes are child led and we have a wide range of creative and physical activities that children can tap into throughout the afternoon. Our team of specialised educators who are Garda vetted provide a best practice activity plan ensuring that each child’s age and abilities and interests are taken into consideration. We offer homework supervision which is a big plus for parents and children as it allows for a more relaxed end to the day for all, however, we do ask that parents check their child’s homework and reading at home as they may not have time to complete it all.

We have a healthy food policy and provide healthy nutritious snacks devised to follow the Department of Health’s Food and Nutritional Guidelines.

Having fun and making friends

Time to unwind and take a snack.  Children can avail of fruit, yogurt, toast cereal at this time.  Children will have a set time after homework to avail of their packed lunch.

Once homework is completed play and having fun and making friends is the priority. Children play freely and also take part in organised play.  We have a great outdoors.  We encourage all children to come with a change of clothes to keep uniforms clean and appropriate wet and warm gear as it is our policy to go outside every day.

Fun with creative activities

Creative Activities Include: Art Projects, Speech & Drama, Imagination Games, Music, Singing, Creative writing , Quizzes, crosswords, Board Games, Puzzles, Crafts,  Reading, Construction Games and Cookery.  Physical Activities will include Obstacle Course, Team Games, Soccer, Tennis, Basketball, Dance, Zumba, Yoga, Relay Races, Tag Rugby, GAA and Gardening, with many more depending on the interests in the class.

 National Childcare Scheme (NCS)

The National Childcare Scheme (NCS) is a new scheme that provides financial support to help parents to meet the costs of childcare.

The NCS will replace all existing targeted childcare support programmes and the current universal childcare subsidy by 2021. It gives financial support towards the cost of childcare for the hours spent outside of pre school or school.  You are entitled to the maximum subsidy rates if your reckonable income is €26,000 or less. Your subsidy rate decreases as your income increases up to the threshold of €60,000.
